NZ #16 - Waitomo Caves and The Glowworms (28/10)

New Zealand has a lot of special things to do, one of them is to visit the Waitomo Caves, so remember, if one day you have the opportunity to go to NZ, you have to go to Waitomo and see the glowworms. It's fantastic, when you're inside the cave looking to the cave's ceiling, looks like you're in the universe watching the stars (top photo).

A Nova Zelândia tem muitas coisas especiais para se fazer, uma delas é visitar as cavernas de Waitomo, então se lembre, se um dia você ter a oportunidade de ir para lá, você tem que ir a Waitomo e ver os "vermes brilhantes". É fantástico, quando você está dentro da caverna olhando para o teto, é como se você estivesse no universo observando as estrelas (foto acima).


A quick explanation about it, the glowworms uses the light to feed themselves, attracting the insects to the light. When the the food comes close, they'll be envolved with some kind of web, remembering the same spider mechanism to eat, reading about, this is why the scientific name is Arachnocampa, read more about it, clicking here and see the photos below! ;)
On this tour, we also did rock climbing, abseiling and rafting.

Uma rápida explicação sobre, os glowworms usam a luz para se alimentar, atraindo os insetos para a luz que eles emitem.
